Buried Treasures

Gardens can certainly be full of buried treasures. With the start of Spring gardeners will be spending increasing time cleaning up and planting out. The localeye category Garden Shops and Plant Nurseries lists quite a number of places in and around Christchurch which have their own websites.

Once the spring garden is established its time for a reward - garden tours, open garden days and so on blossom forth in October.  A special event which should appeal to garden lovers and foodies is the Ruapuna Garden Symposium to be held on the 18th and 19th of October. Another perennial favourite is Gardenz, held in Hagley Park over Labour Weekend (24th-27th October).

Gardeners should check out the ultimate buried treasure - worms!  Christchurch City Council produces  A Guide to Worm Composting, Wastebusters in Selwyn and Ashburton Districts  will introduce you to the Can O Worms and Christchurch company  Bedrock Worms will supply you with energetic tiger worms.
