Country Shows

A and P shows are Kiwi icons. For city folk its a chance to be entertained by the country - the fine animals, the skillful horsemen, the axemen, the dog trialers. Country dwellers take it as a good day out too but its a bit more serious - fine breeding stock and stockmanship skills are judged and they compete in favourite pursuits. A number of country shows take place around the region over spring and summer - the Royal Agricultural Society of New Zealand lists show dates around the region.
