A recent coup was getting the NASA site to feature a current photograph of Christchurch and Banks Peninsula.

Sorted Students 
From the Retirement Commission , Sorted Students offers advice and information on money matters of particular relevance to students, or those who have just finished studying. Useful tools include budget and loan calculators, a qualifications calculator and a money personality profiler. There is advice on managing and paying back a student loan.

The Knowledge Wave

The Knowledge Wave conference  was held in Auckland from the 19th -21st February. With the  key themes of growth, community and knowledge , the conference brings together interested New Zealanders with international speakers. A  feature of the conference this year was the participation of 50 people aged 17-35 who were identified as emerging  leaders. The site reflects the opportunity the conference presents for people to share ideas . Delegates ideas and actions  and conference background  and discussion papers are available on the site.

Among the events celebrated at the conference was the launch of the nationwide volunteering website, Volunteer Now, and an associated 0800 number, which encourages New Zealanders to share their knowlege, skills and experience with their local community.

Spotlight on some localeye resources ...

  www.sing.co.nz   Christchurch singing tutors who run courses  called Reclaim Your Voice especially for people who consider themselves non singers. Its also the website for the Acapellago world choir.

Waterlink  is an activity resource created by the Christchurch City Council to help children learn about the water resources of the city and water conservation.  Featuring the adventures of Pakura the pukeko it has information and activities for children and teachers.

Brian Mason Scientific and Technical Trust  Trust provides grants to support research, learning and the promotion of science and technology in Canterbury and Westland. Site has details of research projects that have been supported by the trust and also how to apply for a grant.
