The Port Hills are perhaps the most outstanding natural feature of the Christchurch landscape and a significant recreational escape from the city below. The Summit Road Society was formed nearly 60 years ago to "enhance, preserve and protect the nature, beauty and open character of the hills of Banks Peninsula for people to enjoy."
