The Christchurch Community Mapping ProjectThe Christchurch Community Mapping Project aims at developing a community profile of Christchurch. The profile will include information on local demographic and social trends and social service provision and will therefore act as a basis on which agencies can plan and determine priorities. The Project is a collaboration between Child, Youth and Family, Christchurch City Council, Department of Internal Affairs, He Oranga Pounamu, and representatives of various government departments through the Strengthening Families Management Group, and community agencies through Safer Community Council and Healthy Christchurch. The Community Mapping Project is hoping to find out more about the city’s makeup and the social services that operate in Christchurch. The aim is to get a good overall picture of the community, spot trends and use the information to identify gaps and help with planning. The Project Brief sets out the aims, objectives, background and methods of the Mapping Project. The timeframe sees the following stages occurring in February and March: Demographic, social and economic data analysis, Social services stock take, Government direct and indirect provision stock take, Review of previous research reports/ summary of community research. Stage 5, a comparative analysis, is scheduled for April. Visit the Christchurch Community Mapping Project for further information. Buried TreasuresSpotlight on some localeye resources ...
