Godwits and the Estuary

On March 20, a special ceremony will farewell the kuaka or Eastern bar tailed godwits on an 11,000 km journey to their breeding grounds in Alaska and Siberia. The godwits are a significant part of the rich birdlife on Christchurch's doorstep in the Avon Heathcote Estuary.
