The sites and groups listed in this category serve a variety of purposes. Some are focused on providing citizens with access to information and communications technology (ICT) and teaching them how to use it for their advancement. Addington has a community internet centre that is a base for training courses to teach people about the Internet, developing web sites, using email and other tools. Waltham Community Cottage's web site celebrates the local community and empowers people by helping them use the Internet. Other sites are a source of community information, providing an access point to news, local businesses and activities. Cashmere has a community website that aims to make information available about issues, views and news as they affect the Cashmere community.
